From Good To GreatAdapting To Succeed

Larry Bangs, AInstIB, Principal, Bangs Business Coaching, Boulder, CO

This is an interactive presentation of the basic findings from Jim Collins’ books, “Good to Great” and “Built to Last.” Collins has done extraordinary research and made some startling discoveries regarding what separates “good” companies from “great” ones. The presenter will move slowly through Collins’ findings stopping along the way to answer questions and stimulate dialogue based on the real time experience of the audience. Why is this important for entrepreneurial businesses? Because almost all of them have grown up “reactively.” Their basic business operations and management practices have been formed out of their reactions to cash flow problems, employee difficulties, customer demands, etc. The result is that all too many of them are mired in bad habits that keep them from fulfilling the vision they had for their business at the beginning. It takes tremendous courage and commitment to face what Collins calls the “brutal truth” and begin to take the steps necessary to build a business based on a strong vision, a solid strategic plan and well disciplined management practices.
