Statewide Grassroots
Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC)
Initiative
In 2007, a committee initiated by ICA (the
non-profit organizing body),
business leaders and public officials began actively coordinating the
state's resources to
bring a Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) to Colorado.
The Defense
Logistics Agency (DLA) funds PTACs and requires beneficiary states to
match the
amount granted to them through private funding or local government
support.
Colorado is one of only a few states that do not have a general PTAC
to serve independent businesses within the state's borders. These
centers have been
instrumental in assisting small businesses in procuring contracts with
federal, regional, state and local government agencies and prime
contractors.
The effort to consolidate support and submit an application to DLA must
be completed in the beginning of 2008 in order to meet the submission
deadline.
